The Southern Fried Jazz Band offers some of the best and most refreshing Dixieland jazz on the scene today.  Its leader is veteran trumpet player Don Edwards whose Dixieland Skills are well honed.  He first performed its music as a member of the name bands during the big band era, and later enjoyed fifteen years as a member of the show bands in Vegas at its “musical” prime.  During that time he also performed in various Dixieland bands and backed some of the Dixieland greats including Louis Armstrong and the World’s Greatest Jazz Band.

This always results in a freshness and excitement that is contagious to see and hear.  With an underlying mission of keeping good jazz alive, the show blends music with narration and personal anecdotes into a seamless history lesson of jazz in America.  Instrumentals are stirred with lots of seasoning and spontaneity into a tasty recipe that never fails to “WOW” the audience.  These ingredients have launched Southern Fried Jazz from the Piedmont foothills of North Carolina into the national spotlight in short order.

So-o, if you want to hear some foot-stompin’, toe-tappin’ good music that’ll knock your socks off, then get ready to sit back, buckle your seat belts  – and see just what’s cookin’ with the Southern Fried Jazz Band!

Robin and Linda Williams, the Virginia-based duo known for their rich harmonies and original songwriting, are joined in concert by Jim Watson, a founding member of the Red Clay Ramblers, on bass and his distinctive harmony vocals, and bluegrass veteran Jimmy Gaudreau on  mandolin and mandola.
Of all the artists who made up the Impressionist movement Renoir is probably one of the most popular today. Perhaps it is his inspired use of color or his vigorous brush work that has won the heart of the general public, but most likely it has to do with his choice of subjects including pretty children, flowers and beautiful scenes. However, he is known above all for his paintings of lovely women. Jeffrey W. Allison, Paul Mellon Collection Educator, discusses some of Renoir’s best loved paintings and his models including Nini de Lopez and Suzanne Valadon.
